RECYCLING

Recycling doesn't always make sense. The cost and CO2 needed to break stuff down and make new stuff sometimes just doesn't pencil out. But when it does we jump in and these are folks are doing it right. If you know of other recycling services that make sense please let us know. For now thank you for making a difference. You can bring these items to our store and we will take it from there.

Shoe recycling

Working to find a new partner. Still accepting new or gently used shoes

Our state run paint recycling program. We are a proud partner and we take your paint for free any day we are open.

This program works so well for us as we can use it to supply paint in our store for sell. One gallon of paint used 80lbs of CO2. This is a great way to close the loop and save money over buying new paint.

We sell Green Sheen eco-friendly paint. They accept used paint from the PaintCare program and other sources and turn it into new paint. The cost is a fraction of new paint and we sell it in our store. Come take a look at the great colors we have in stock.

Light bulb recycling update  Department of Ecology

The program is funded by an environmental handling charge (EHC) applied to each retail sale of a mercury-containing light. With the dramatic decline in the sale of those lights, the program’s funding is unsustainable. Further, revenue from the EHC will stop when the complete sales ban for these lights goes into effect in 2029. PCA’s financial analysis predicts the environmental handling charge funding will no longer be sufficient to support the program by early 2026.

The law requires producers to fully fund the program beginning in January 2029. It also requires producers, through a product stewardship organization, to make up the gap should the environmental handling charge be insufficient (RCW 70A.505.030).  But with PCA’s exit, there needs to be a new stewardship organization to operate the program and collect funds from producers.

Wine corks are great for fun cork boards and they also can be recycled into cork products. We send corks to ReCork for repurposing. You can donate your corks with us. They must be actual cork not the plastic ones some wine companies use. We accept them any day we are open.
